A colleague emailed me yesterday asking the Top 10 things the Triton Loyalty Audience Engagement Team recommends for an affiliate  to insure a successful launch.  This is a great question, and as I responded, editing my list from 100 to 10 (only partially kidding), it struck me that this would be useful to you.  (NOTE:  Information on the Triton Media Audience Engagement Team to the left!)

Here are my Top 10:

1) Understand what the loyalty program is, how it works, and put it into your STRATEGY.  Knowing how to use the tools and manage the system is not establishing a strategy for integrating it into your brand.  Let us help you with this before you launch!

Loyalty success is all about connecting the features of the loyalty program to your core benefits.  This often becomes an obstacle for some affiliates who don’t immediately see their product being conducive to promotion.  One of our news/talk partners solved this problem with their Weather Guarantee.  It works equally well for television and radio, and probably could even be implemented for newspaper/print.  Here’s how it works:

Each day,  guarantee that your weather forecast will be accurate within a specific range (usually 3-5 degrees to give you some room).  If the forecast is incorrect, pay off with a cash prize.  To win the cash prize, members must use points in an Enter To Win  (Sweepstakes/Raffle) Feature.

Step 1:   Promise:   Promote the feature during regular weather updates and as a part of your station positioning, ‘WXXX, home of the daily weather guarantee, where our forecast is guaranteed or we pay off with cash.  Today’s cash prize is worth (amount).  Go to (website) to enter.”

Minor Release Notes – 2/12/10

A new version of our software was released on the 12th.  This release contains both fixes and minor enhancements.  Here’s what’s been updated in this release…

Enhancement: Prize quantity verification – During the setup of a contest we have added a verification step that will prevent anyone from accidentally specifying an incorrect number of prizes to be given away.  When the system detects a prize quantity greater than 1 a prompt will come up asking if you are sure of the quantity before going to the next step.

Enhancement: Postal/zip code filtering – When filtering a list in Tribal Direct by a large number of postal/zip codes the system would take a very long time to the point of timing out in some cases.  We have optimized the database processes so that it now takes an average of just 6 seconds.

Enhancement: Scratch & Win – The new scratch & win game allows StickyFish members to purchase virtual ‘scratch’ tickets for a chance to win big points.  Like the blackjack game this is an addicting way for your audience to spend their time on your site and it can also be sponsored.  The game is currently in beta release.  Look out for more announcements coming soon on the full release.
